're seeing a beautiful sunset. santa rosa, so far today, with 60 degrees. napa, 63. sfo so far, 56. 57 in san jose. monterey, 54. here's a look at the current readings. a shot from the high definition roof top cam, showing the bay bridge, clear sky. 58 in oakland. petaluma, 54. livermore, 57. from the mt. tamalpais camera you can see the wind at higher elevations really strong out of the north and that is what cleared the low clouds and fog well off the coast and making it chilly across the bay area. santa rosa, 57. 57, fairfield, and los gatos, 56. here's what you can expect forecast headlines, clear and breezy overnight. sunny for sunday. west wind, which means temperatures come up a little bit, and then next week, milder days ahead. we're talking temperatures near 70 degrees for the latter part of negligence week. high pressure, still in control, although today we did have a little bit of area of low pressure. we call this an inside slider, moving through the spine of the sear a -- sierra. saw a little snow last night. the high pressure will build in and it's going to push the storm track

in santa rosa, 4. 47 in fairfield with a pretty gusty wind there. concord 39. gilroy and los gatos in the low to mid-40s. this is the reason some of you are feeling warmer. we have northerly winds and with those northerly winds the atmosphere is well mixed. that's allowing for temperatures to stay up, especially at the airport. the north wind at 22 miles an hour. we are looking at lighter north winds around the bay. but with a warmer start and a warmer atmosphere we will allow for temperatures to see a rebound today. more 60s around the bay. so sunny skies. it will be warmer. dry and mild for the rest of the week. it looks like march coming in like a lamb. and the next possibility of rain may be looking into the next weekend. so we will see a couple of systems drop our temperatures from day-to-day, but overall high pressure as it gets closer to the coast is going to allow for the warmup today. a couple weak systems every other day will flatten the ridge, then it rebuilds. that will being the pa earn right on through the rest of the week until thursday and friday. then the numbers r

degrees right now in santa rosa. here are your weather headlines. overnight temperatures mainly in the mid 30s to mid 40s. we have a warming trend just around the corner. beginning tomorrow, as those winds continue to die down, it should bump up temperatures and the warmer weather continues into the workweek. sunshine, mild, warmer, upper 50s to low 60s and plenty of sunshine for the final half of the weekend. it's because of a ridge of high pressure continues to build. so we aren't seeing any rain at all. definitely you can see in future cast, but we are talking beyond that. in the next seven days, it looks dry in our forecast. possibly by next sunday, we could see a possible change in the weather. for now, we are looking high and dry. pinpoint forecast overnight lows, once again cool tonight. and the winds will slowly die down, even though we could see gusts more than 20 miles per hour. very localized. 38 in concord. 39 overnight in san rafael. 45 in san francisco and 45 degrees out in pacifica. otherwise upper 30s if you're in mountain view and san jose. by tomorrow, lots of sunshine. a

temperatures dropping off to 39, and 46 in santa rosa and 43 in san jose, and 43 in sunnyvale, let's go to the hd sky camera network. for a quick look here. and it is clear. but we have a bit of a onshore flow and cloud cover. this that will bring us patchy fog for the morning hours. as we look at the current pattern, we have the jet stream sitting across northern california and we will see several storm systems passing by. here comes high pressure to save us in time for the end of the work week forecast. sunshine coming back. and cloud cover and all and all, a nice forecast as we look ahead to the up coming weekend. we will start with 44 in san rafael, and 39 in san jose with 37 in los gatos. daytime highs on friday, it will be the warmest spread down here in the south bay. not as warm for the east bay, the warmest spot will be walnut creek at 63, 61 in livermore and upper 50s to near 60 back by the bay. san francisco with 61 and 65 expected in santa rosa. if you are heading up to tahoe, maybe an extended weekend coming your way. a slight chance of a snow shower, by saturday, temperatu

in santa rosa. what we experienced today as far as our high temperatures are concerned, numbers generally about 7 degrees warmer than yesterday. pretty much into the 50s and the 60s. 58 degrees in san francisco which is averaging a couple of degrees below normal for this time of the year but we should be around 64 in san jose. tonight, overnight, we'll see numbers dipping down to that freezing point again right there in santa rosa. 33 degrees in livermore so pleasanton, you should drop down to 32. same story around antioch and disco bay, 37 degrees in san jose backing through the almaden valley. 42 in oakland. what you need to know your weather headlines do suggest that we will see tonight some clear skies and it looks like for the most part some areas of patchy frost in our inland areas. sunday starting off cold with sunrise at 7:06. seasonal temperatures during the day, gradually warming up and dry weather pattern continues. we are still under the influence of an area of high pressure here. see that right there? that was our thursday stor

. and 52 in santa rosa. so overall it was actually a nice day because we saw the sunshine even though it was on the chillier side. it made for a nice day to ride the sailboat over the bay. i saw a lot of them out there. cool breezy overnight temperatures in the mid-30s to mid-40s and then we have a warming trend on the way beginning tomorrow and continuing throughout the week. it looks like thursday, friday that's when we'll see the warmest weather. tomorrow highs low 50s and 60s. the winds quiet down and that's going to keep temperatures warmer with plenty of sunshine all across the coast, bay and inland. so a ridge of high pressure continues to build. and it's not going anywhere it looks like throughout the workweek so no real chance of rain for the next 24 hours. you can see in our futurecast, really even beyond that, the next chance of rain the change in our weather looks like it's going to be next sunday. so more than a week from now. and that's only a chance of rain. it's too far off to predict for sure but anyway, no need for an umbrella for

. ridge of high pressure driving those temperatures up. right now, 63 in napa, 63, santa rosa. low 60s walnut creek. hayward, oakland checking in right about 59 degrees. these numbers anywhere from 4 to 8 degrees warmer than we were 24 hours ago. napa and santa rosa closer to 10 to 12 degrees warmer than just a day ago. it's a warming trend that we are going to continue. pacific satellite view. ridge of high pressure over the pacific here. the back edge right about there keeping that storm track well to the north. in fact, it's becoming a bit concerning. 2013 looking awfully dry. some areas perhaps even breaking records at this point for january and now moving into mid-february. so check your grass. you may actually need to turn on the sprinklers. this warming trend will carry us all the way through the week. coming upper 60s in the forecast by thursday. it will be mild that day. winds will remain north and northeast and generally light across the region. 62 expected for berkeley today. 60 in san francisco. 63 in hayward. low to mid-60s for the north bay. 6 o-- low 60s inland east bay.

,000 block of montgomery drive in santa rosa. a man was struck by a 300 series mercedes benz. police say the victim died at the scene. no word on his identity. >>> as most people were sleeping this morning, water and mud poured into homes in san francisco. a 16-inch pipe burst sending water down 15th avenue just after 2:30 a.m. this morning. 23 homes were inundated. six are yellow tagged and 12 cars were damaged. >> the water came up so high it tipped everything over. and the refrigerator was full. it just tipped everything over. it was that high. started floating. >> as you can see the trash cans were floating. everything. >> the water opened up a sink hole that won't be repaired till tomorrow. they are looking for the cause of the break. the water main break raised new questions about san francisco's aging infrastructure. new tonight at 6:00 p.m., ktvu's rob roth spoke to officials about what needs to be done to prevent these problems in the future. rob? >> reporter: we are at 15th avenue, take a look at the plastic bags. inside them are people's possessions that have to be thrown out

areas held up by a breeze. not everybody. even san jose 31. novato 32. santa rosa 32. concord and livermore 34. there are year areas that are cold. with that offshore breeze temperatures coast and bay have no problem warming up. santa rosa gets a north wicked. that northerly breeze not that strong. this there is enough of a component that means sunshine. patchy fog. 60s on the temps. mid 60s. napa at 63. pitts burg 61. 62 danville. 60s low from san jose. santa clara valley. even along much of the coast. we will continue this need with sunshine and warmer weather. certainly wednesday, thursday, and friday look to be on the very mild side. the weekend looks a little cooler but still dry. >>> european markets are mostly higher this morning. the euro has edged up from a two week low. most markets in asia closed today and much of the week for the lunar new year. futures indicate a higher opening here in the u.s. when our markets open up in a little more than an hour. you can see on friday they posted gains as well. >>> gas prices continue to sore giving consumers less money to spen

developing. it's not too bad right now. six miles and/or less in santa rosa. but for tomorrow morning looks like the patchy fog at 2 miles and/or less would be confined right here to the north bay. let's take you live outside in the hd sky camera network. more of the poor air quality in the south bay, and then right up into emeryville, looking towards san francisco. and it's clear. we can't rule out a little bit of fog that will make it right across the golden gate bridge for tomorrow. let's get you back into the weather mix. high pressure offshore. this will keep it dry. we are just begging for some sort of raindrop. it looks like that ♪ is not going to be possible until some time next week. we have that coming up in the seven-day forecast for tomorrow. 50s and 60s, plenty of sunshine throughout the afternoon. and for those interior valleys, a mix of 60s, and then eventually some 70s coming in that seven-day forecast with a few 70s there. we think that will sort of pop on the weather board by thursday. if you do suffer from allergies, you'll want to get outside. you'll want to enjoy this

rosa. and currently, it looks like we are 55 in livermore. today's numbers in and around our microclimates, it was 56 in pacifica, 60 in fairfield, again these temperatures averaging warmer than yesterday. tonight's overnight lows, banking between the freezing point in the santa rosa area, 37 degrees in san jose. and 38 in mountain view. mountain 40s across the central bay. now, this is the scene looking out from mount vaca where we do not even have a cloud on the horizon. tonight starry skies, patchy frost overnight. it will be on the sunny side up on sunday. seasonal temperatures will prevail. and the dry weather pattern will continue. take a look at this right now. you're seeing that area of low pressure that we experienced couple of days back pooling out of the southern california area after dumping snowfall in the grapevine. high pressure firmly in place as it does continue to dominate the west coast here in the san francisco area. we are looking at this dry weather pattern continuing so you might want to ask here, precipitation of n

and at the toll plaza it is quieter weather-wise with a lot of traffic there. temperatures running santa rosa, napa, fairfield, concord, and gilroy, all in the throw mid-40's. now, what will happen today. we have the scout showers this morning, but, more organized showers are developing as we speak and they will bring rain for three to four hours with hail from the showers that develop later this afternoon and the thunderstorms. but it will get lower today starting at 8:00 in the north bay and exit the south bay at 5:00, and 1" down to 2,000 feet and 5" of snow on mount hamilton and when the storm pass as slow warming trend headed into the weekend. the cold front shows how quickly it is coming down with the moisture lining up along it and most of it is going to be with the northern tail into the system or the northern head of the system will head to the sierra so they will get so much snow. we are on the tail end so we are going to get .25 to .5" of rain. the models are picking up pooling along the cold front, and light-to-moderate steady rain and 9:00 or 10:00 in the north bay moving into th
